A multipurpose sheet material comprising an absorbent layer with opposing first and second surfaces has been patented. The sheet material features a cut-resistant material in contact with the absorbent layer, and a cut-resistant support system with a discontinuous array of discrete elements on the absorbent layer. The sheet material exhibits a slice resistance of approximately 30 kgf/cm.
